Hi Everyone, Although it doesn't seem as though the weather can make up its mind on the season, remember that our bodies know what season it is and in the season of spring it is a time of mixed energy. We are still having some cool days, warm days, hot days and then back to cool days. In order not to get run down with this mix of energy and fluctuating temperatures, be sure you take each day as it is. Meaning, on the cooler days - be sure you dress a bit warmer and then on the more warm days, allow yourself to dress accordingly. Also, you will notice that on the cooler days you will want to eat warmer foods and then you will crave the cooler foods on the warm days - and this is okay. What's important here is to allow your self to live with the season and in spring - it is the season of change, fluctuation and flexibility. In order to keep your immune system in top order, it is important to pay attention to what your body needs each day. And this includes the energy of your body. To help you understand what you body's energy system needs are, my radio show this week is on: Chi Living. Giving you advice on how to better take care of yourself through recognizing how our bodies get and utilizes chi or life force energy. You can listen to this show on: www.lauriedeniseandrews.com. For those of you who are studying Asian and Chinese medicine, this will be a great show full of information for you. And for everyone else, there is much information in this week's show that you will find very interesting. So be sure to tune in to this week's: New Age Living - Radio on: www.lauriedeniseandrews.com.

Hi Everyone and Welcome to Spring! As we have now entered into the season of growth, new beginnings, planning, organizing and putting forth all ideas that you have reflected on over the yin months of Autumn and Winter, it is time to come out of shadows into the sun and blossom. Spring is the beginning of the next 6 months of yang activity, and it is also time to clean and clear out all the stored clutter from the cold and closed in months we are now escaping from. What ever it is that you are still holding on to from your past, whether the past few months or the past several years - it is time to get rid of it and move on. It's not just time, but in all reality, it is something we must do in order to move forward. If you are wondering why you life seems stuck, take a look at what is cluttering your life. Look at you physical body, your mental state, your emotional baggage and even your spiritual unrest. What is it that you have not forgiven, let-go of, or moved on from?? You must remember, you are not your past. Your past is just a moment in time and now it is time to move forward on your path to wellness, prosperity and joy. In Chinese medicine, this is the season of the Wood element which governs the gall bladder and the liver. And during the season of spring we move from the heavy foods of winter into eating the light, fresh and nourishing foods of spring. Garden greens and fresh vegetable and juices. The flavor is "sour" for spring so drink some natural and fresh lemonade and add some vinegar to your tossed salads. To hear more about the Spring Equinox, the Wood Element and how to heal and balance yourself during this time of year, listen to this week's show (dated March 21, 2012) on my internet radio program: New Age Living. Aired on www.lauriedeniseandrews.com. Enjoy!

Hi Everyone, Here we are in Autumn and all around me people are sneezing, coughing and getting sick. But this doesn't have to be. As the change of seasons happen we just need to be more aware of our true natural selves and change too. It is only when we keep acting, eating, dressing and living the same as we did through the summer that we our immune systems will fail us and we become susceptible to falling ill. We have to remember that we are part of nature and the natural cyclical changes that take place. As Autumn and its cooler weather arrives, we must change the way we do things, moving from the activities and lifestyle we had during the warm summer months to the now cooler days and lifestyle that comes with it. Autumn is the time for moving inward, not just physically but also mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It is a time for cleaning out not only our bodies but also our minds and emotions from what ever we are holding on to. In Chinese Medicine, the season of fall has rein over the organs of the Lungs and Large Intestine and these are the organs that represent and establish the cleansing process of our bodies. So now is the time to do the things to cleanse ourselves but not just physically. If we hold onto things of our past we will soon find we have problems in our Lungs and Large Intestines too. We must use this time of Autumn to "let go" physically, mentally and emotionally of those things in our lives that no longer serve us a purpose and move on. It is a time for us to begin a rejuvenation process, slow down and take in the comforts of our home, community and harvest to warm our bodies and our spirits. If we do these things and work to let go and then build our bodies from the inside - out, our immune systems will be better able to handle the changes as they come. This is also a great time to utilize what you have learned in the course material from Acupressure, Color Therapy, Chakra Therapy, etc. to help your body and your client's body heal and rejuvenate. Good luck and happy autumn!

As everyone is now gearing the kids up for school to start with all the stores running their back to school fall ads, don't forget that we are still in the season of summer and our bodies don't want us to slow down yet. Summer is that time of year when we need to be the most active, it is when we become more creative, adventurous and playful. And there is good reason for this, our bodies rely on the change of seasons, change of environment, and our change of activities to stay in balance and to keep us healthy. Don't forget that we are part of nature and the earth and it is when we don't change with the seasons, that we can fall prey to illness and disease. So during the this time of both outward and inward expansion, when not only our bodies are ready and wanting more movement, so do our insides. Our digestion and elimination systems become more active with much more energy and our metabolism is at its yearly peak. And because of this our bodies can tolerate and need the more acidic foods like tomatoes and strawberries to keep our internal fire burning optimally. It is also the right time of year to fuel up on all the many minerals, vitamins and antioxidants we get from the bounty of fresh vegetables, berries and fruits. So don't let this month pass you by - get all you can of what summer has to offer - oh, and lots of sunshine too. Enjoy!

Hi Everyone and welcome to spring!! This is the time of year of creation. Everything and everyone opens up from a long sleepy (yin) winter. The sun shines brighter, trees and flowers begin blooming and we of course become more energized and alive. It is a time of being yang and for the next 6 months, the sun and high energy will be dominating our lives. During this time of creation, many will find a new spark of life; new ideas, thoughts and plans will emerge. It is also a time for clearing out the past so all these new ideas and plans can have room to grow. During the spring, according to Chinese Medicine and the Five Element system, the Wood element is in focus. This element governs the gall bladder and liver and that of nourishment and growth. During this time of year we need to not only clean out from the past and what is cluttering our homes but we also need to clean out our bodies, especially our liver and gall bladder from all the heavy foods and toxins we have taken in during the winter and the year before. You can find good cleansing and detox kits and teas in local health stores but also eating fresh greens of all kinds, especially dandelion greens and eating lots of fresh (raw) fruits and vegetables will help you cleanse naturally. In your clearing out, don't forget to clear out your mind as well with long walks in nature and meditation. For exercise, do something invigorating that will cause you to sweat, another way of cleansing the body. Now that you have a clean and clear mind, body and spirit - you will be able to think more clearly and you will feel healthier and lighter. Getting you ready for the year's biggest time of fun and enjoyment-summer!
